First off let me just express my heartfelt gratitude to EPIC for releasing Robo Recall source.
What a huge amount of work this has been for all those artists.
That said, the reason I can migrate assets out of Robo Recall into my own 4.15 project, but cannot open them inside my project is copyright ?
I tried migrating a particle system out of robo recall , but when I drag it into my scene , it just crashes the editor. Also double clicking the particle system or rightclicking gives the error “Asset not found”.
I’m suspecting copyright is the issue here, which I understand completely of course. Just wanted to make sure I’m not doing anything wrong here.
I’d assume the reason it crashes is because of differences and variations of engine versions. Robo Recall is definitely using a custom build of UE4. But Epic probably doesn’t want assets to leave Robo Recall projects anyway.
Yes - they confirmed about some assets being copyrighted. For example they used a whole bunch of assets from the Saigon Office (from the Marketplace) in the HUB (the Robo Recall “office” you enter when starting the game.
The fact that those particle effects aren’t migrating properly either is probably due to the engine versions mismatching, like you say.
