Asking if selling custom combat advantages for V-Bucks in a PvP map is allowed under current rules.

Hi Epic Staff and fellow creators,

I am currently developing a UEFN PvP map and looking into the In-Island Commerce feature (Storefront device). I want to be 100% transparent with my mechanics and ensure I strictly follow the Island Creator Rules, especially regarding Pay-To-Win guidelines.

I have coded a system with several custom classes and abilities, and I am considering selling access to them for a reasonable amount of V-Bucks. Here is the exact list of abilities I have created:

  • Double Damage multiplier

  • Auto-Aim / Smart Targeting

  • A “Nuke / Team Wipe” button that eliminates the enemy team

  • Super Speed & Infinite Sprint

  • Super Flight & Glider Redeploy

  • Invisibility

  • Health/Shield Regeneration & Healing Aura

  • Instant Weapon Reload

  • Damage return (Cactus Thorns)

Here is where my confusion comes in: I currently see a lot of highly popular, published PvP maps actively selling similar direct combat advantages (like Freeze Guns, Double Damage, and Auto-Aim) for V-Bucks via In-Island Commerce.

Before I finalize and publish my map, could an Epic Staff member or an experienced creator clarify this for me? Is it actually allowed to sell these specific combat advantages for V-Bucks in a PvP map? Or are these types of purchases strictly prohibited by the current rules, and the maps doing this are just risking a ban? I want to do exactly what is allowed so my creator account stays safe, but seeing so many top maps doing it has left me really confused.

Thanks in advance for the guidance!

Hi Rambo, Welcome to the Forums.

I’m not aware of any restrictions around creating ‘pay to win’ transactions.

Although on the topic of ‘100% Transparency’ I wonder if this extends to the players who get killed by paid abilities. For example, would you be notified if your opponent was using double damage / auto-aim? (There’s no rules about this, just a design consideration)

The most important aspect will be correctly marking these transactions as “Consequential to Gameplay

If pay-to-win was outlawed, I imagine it would be a bullet point in these guidelines.
