Too much for me to answer all of that, but here are a few:
Weapons and exotics are sometimes not brought across to Creative for various reasons - perhaps their functionality is very specific to BR or to a seasonal theme, or sometimes they just don’t make sense out of context. If there are specific ones you’re thinking of feel free to list them and we can take a look.
There are no plans to bring back the B.R.U.T.E. at this time.
The presence of features in BR has no bearing on how we prioritize bug fixes or updates for Creative devices.
We could probably separate out infinite resources if there was enough demand from the community.
Agreed, a spawn are would be a useful tool and is something we could look into.
Will UEFN get a “voice chat” device eventually? In creative 1.0 voice chat worked without any configuration, but it seems that in 2.0, voice chat doesn’t work in any map I’ve played. This is an essential feature for social and cooperative experiences.
do you have any plans on adding some sort of “upgrade bench” device or crafting manager that lets you craft items similarly to chapter 2? using conditional buttons as a way to make a crafting system feels a little primitive and having the ability to create your own crafting recipes that can be used in the inventory would be extremely useful for survival maps. it would also give those special creative consumables that were added recently new uses within the game context
Definitely a great improvement that would be valuable. The property matrix being available now opens this up as a possibility. But definitely worth putting in a feature request for it so it can be tracked down.
Because Verse can dynamically bind events at runtime, this is definitely a possibility. I believe we have talked about it, but don’t have any additional details for that at this moment.
I don’t believe this is possible with the current devices and events in the game. The closest approximation you could make would be to use Attribute Evaluators, but those don’t allow you to check all the stats and definitely doesn’t allow you to handle multiple cases. You could do behavior tree style state machines by enabling and disabling triggers or switches but that becomes a tangled web very quickly.
Using Verse will make it a lot simpler since you can temporarily store whatever variables you need, but that wasn’t part of your question so I’m making the assumption that you’re not using that on purpose.
As much as possible, we want to create a level of parity between UEFN and Creative. Because Creative is a game at runtime there are limitations to what can be brought over. But for many features we would love to have equivalents if possible in Creative. It’s a matter of priorities.
Animations happen to use anim blueprints which creates some design considerations around them for UEFN. We don’t have many details to talk about at this point.
We are actively working through devices and expanding their verse capabilities. One such aspect of that is including additional data alongside the agent in event triggers. The Pop-Up Dialogue is a good example as it sends the index of the Button pressed. So very likely that this is something we could do in the future.
Because we are actively working on a device’s verse capabilities, this will likely be something possible in the future. It requires Verse to recognize animations as an asset type first and then the ability to set animations accordingly.
The billboard device actually does use a UMG Widget internally and the plan is to expose that UMG Widget to be set accordingly. As for “face to camera”, that is definitely worthy of a feature request for billboards. Beacons would be another way to “face to camera” when it has custom UMG widget support as well.
will we ever see the return of POI Islands? in chapter 2 several spy locations were added as creative islands, and in chapter 3 you announced that you would be doing more POI islands which led to Greasy Grove and Tilted Towers. but after that, the appearance of POI islands seemed to stop. we may have the full BR island available in creative now but it’s still heavily limited and not available in uefn.
Because I always try to go complex for uniqueness (especially now with Verse), seeing something like Outlaw Corral (0985-8384-1768) reminds me that simple and elegant like a 1v1 bracket tournament is still a good source of enjoyable gameplay. That made me think for sure. Maybe I should stop trying so hard. lol
That’s all we have time for today! Thanks to everyone for joining us and asking some really great questions! We hope you continue post your questions and share you knowledge on the forums.
Very special thank you to Brian, Nathan, Sean and Ray for lending us their insights and expertise today!
