Hi,
I have the ARK Dev Kit installed on a SSD my Windows 10 system, as a result of the installation I now only have 27GB free on the that drive (which is not a problem), the issue is that I need to update the Dev Kit to use it and when I click update it says that I require 70gb of free space on the drive and the update only requires 11GB to install.
Its as if the tool is trying to reinstall the entire program again (which took 9 hours the first time round), so I tried to verify the installation but still it says update instead of launch.
Hi,
is it possible that the 11GB update is compressed? That would explain why it says it requires 70GB. If it’s not compressed, would it damage anything to uninstall the old version and then use the empty space to reinstall the newer version?
I’ve had that issue before. The updater just assumes it needs the full 72GBs everytime, but once it is happy that there is, it goes it’s merry way of downloading what it needs and updating. And it’s a huge DL, I’m sure SternKnight is not keen on doing a 9hr download for every update.
Now there is apparently a github repo for the devkit, as I’m guessing this “I need all the room issue” is from the Epic Games Launcher. Saddly I am not well informed on the repo or how to go about getting the kit from there, someone else would know I hope
Wildcards Github only contains the binaries for the DevKit, and do not include content updates, that is made available separately with links to both usually in the first post of the update thread.
The 235 content link has been removed however as the launcher should be at 235 by now, but the .8 binaries have not been pushed to the launcher yet I do not think.
If your DevKit needs to download 11GB’s, when was the last time you tried to use it?
Side note, the launcher is not needed to launch the DevKit, but to ensure the DevKit has the latest changes and additions an update is required.
Sorry for my late response, I’ve tried everything on my end other than the Steam version of the devkit, this is installing now on my desktop so I will see if this is a better option for using and updating the ARK devkit.
