Apple M3 class SOC is now offering Hardware-accelerated ray tracing - Path Tracer for Mac coming soon?

Hello TM-Devs,
Apple just announced the new M3 SOC platform with Hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
Now there should be no more excuses to not making Path Tracer available in the Mac version of Twinmotion. Any information about it?
Kind Regards,
Roman

I tested the new LUMEN function, which is very interesting and effective for some models. It’s very encouraging and help to wait for a true path tracer, but at the same time rather frustrating, as it doesn’t deal with the subject of reflections, which is still very penalizing.
Would it be possible to imagine a mixed option for the final rendering of a scene with LUMEN lighting and software path tracer (i.e. time-consuming) just for reflections?
Would it be possible to keep calculation times to a reasonable level and still achieve a satisfactory result?
Really hope the M3 will sort all this out…

We Mac users are still waiting for path tracing compatibility with M3 as promised by Twinmotion for when hardware accelerating tech is available …

Bonjour,

Cordialement

Anyone tried unreal 5.4 preview? I installed it but still no raytracing or pathtracing

2k limitation is not related to mac. it is related to ‘community edition’

Merci !

Any updates? 5.5 preview1 still nothing. I wonder if there is any ETA for this at leas as an experimental support.

We’ve now got the new M4 Apple Silicon chips out. It’s time for Twinmotion to support ray tracing for real. We need a firm commitment please from Unreal so we can plan our business and project pipeline with clarity. This isn’t some random feature request, but one of the key elements of rendering for everyone. Thanks all!

Oh and if we can please send this as a formal feature request in the official roadmap page for Twinmotion, think that would just be a good way to give them a nudge.

There was mention at unreal fest and it’s in one of the videos that the hwrt is a work in progress. Don’t mean much as I don’t recall them mentioning if it’s a 5.5 or 5.6 or later target…

I wouldn’t really expect the feature support this year really.

edit:

this is the video where it’s mentioned
