Apocalyptic Church (Game design)

Hi Guys
I designed, modeled and textured this church (Interior and exterior) for one of my respected clients. I used Maya for designing and 3D modeling. Substance painter for texturing the assets that I designed and modeled myself (The benches, Doors, Columns, altar, ceiling beams, windows and ceiling lights, stairs and hand rails ).
I textures the rest using Quixel megascans assets in unreal engine.

I really enjoyed every second of this project and my respected client allowed me to be as creative as I can and use all my skills to create this church.
I added the graveyard around the church later for myself and it was not ordered by my respected client.
Hope you like it.

I don’t know, They did not provide me this information

Greetings @JVAD3D !

This project is hauntingly beautiful! The distressed textures throughout and the overgrowth really set the mood for this amazing work of art! It’s the perfect imperfections that permeate the scene. The light spilling in from behind the pulpit is warm, and mesmerizingly appropriate for the theme. You’ve managed to merge the symmetry of architecture with the randomness of disrepair. I’m sure your client is not in the least bit disappointed. I can see this church in the French countryside.

Splendid work on your design, models, and textures! Color me impressed!

Hello @Get_DOVAH_it
Thanks for your kind words. Yeah the client loved it. I can’t believe that I created all the exterior and interior with a single gtx 1650 Super and intel i7 2700k thanks to unreal engine 5. ( Just for rendering the animation I sent it to a renderfarm to save time and get the best quality renders).
Since I have worked many years as an architect and interior designer, I always approach the project from an architectural point of view at first and then from an environment designer’s.I thinked as always this really helped me in this project too.
I think it always helped me in creating spectacular scenes in UE .(Interiors for architectural projectrs and environments for game projects).

You’re most welcome, JVAD3D!

Yes, I am astounded that you created your project within AND ran UE5 with one GTX 1650S and a 2.7GHz processor! Wow! :astonished: You also taught me something new! I had no idea there’s a such thing as render farms! Which did you use?

I’ve always admired architecture, and when the opportunity for CAD presented itself in high school, I decided to go the college prep route. When I was ready for college, I was stuck between computer science, interior design, and graphic design. I chose computer science in the end. Someday soon, I hope to take a serious dive into the fields of study that I missed. Your creative eye for both interior/environmental design and architecture reveals itself in the best ways!

Yes
UE5 works fine on my pc. I have done all my project with the same pc and in most of them I get a frame rate of around 30 fps in high mode.
About renderfarm I was refering to a server i rented for redering the project.
https://gpurun.com/
Here it is. I rented a server from them and accessed the server with remote desktop. Then easily installed UE5 on it,Transfered the proejct to the serever and render it using movie render quene.

I prepared everything on my pc even the camera animations.I just used the server for rendering as I mentioned.Just opened the scene in the server and hit render
The server had a RTX 3060 Gpu and a 16 core amd processor.
By the way. I don’t use hardware raytracing,All my projects are done with lumen GI and reflections.

This is an amazing design! The interior and exterior of the church look so realistic and the texturing is spot on.

Thanks Matt

It’s great to see the attention to detail you put into creating your own assets like the benches, doors, and columns. The graveyard added a nice touch to the overall atmosphere of the church. I love how you were able to use both Maya and Substance Painter to bring this project to life. I wish more modern churches looked like this, it’s such a beautiful design. Keep up the great work!

Excellent work, as always

Thanks

Thanks Matt
