Apex Destruction: How to 'smooth' remove chunks

I have 2 questions with the Apex Destruction plugin:

First, is there a good way to destroy/remove the chunks from the scene. So now they are just instantly disappearing after some seconds. I would love to fade them out or to scale them to zero, or something like that. Maybe deactivate the collision, that they fall through the ground… Am I missing something, is there a way to do that?
Second question, under the ‘Fracture Settings’, ‘General’ and then ‘Fractural Material Desc’, I can make changes, like scaling the UV. Thats awesome, but if I save it, close the UE4 and reopen my project, all the changes are gone under the ‘Fractural Material Desc’ Tab. They are set back to the default value. Is this a bug?
