Apex Cloth clipping and getting stuck

I have created an apex cloth that simulates fine with my character. Except when in certain animations the cloth break and gets stuck over the legs or above the shoulders. I am trying to create pants and a jacket that love with the character. Is it possible that apex cloth is not suited for that perhaps? It works how it’s supposed in Maya but is it possible there is something in unreal?

If you would please link a screenshot of the cloth and how you are applying it to your character as well as a screen shot if it getting stuck or breaking.

Thanks! the linked helped define some terminology for me! It turned out I had my max distance settings really high and didn’t realize it!
