Anyone with an AMD 2990wx, 2950x or 1950x out there?

Hi guys,

So the 32c/64t 2990wx TR CPU and the improved 16c/32t 1950x (aka 2950x) has recently come out as well.
I was wondering if anyone here has them?

I’m looking to upgrade my CPU (budget not really an issue). I’ve seen a lot of 3D rendering benchmarks for 2990wx (such as corona, etc.), and it seems to be an absolute monster, easily outperforming anything intel has to offer (that also includes the i9 7980xe).

I understand the 2990wx is far behind most other CPUs in any other non-rendering related fields (even the 1950x for that matter), but I’m looking for a high end workstation.
I do a lot of 3Ds max rendering & UE4 archviz (building lights on daily basis). I can’t help but to assume since the 2990wx outperforms any other CPU in rendering applications, it must also do the same when building lights in UE4, right?

I can’t seem to find any benchmarks for the 2990wx in UE4.
I would really appreciate it if anyone with any of the CPUs of 2990wx, or 2950x, or 1950x, could do the UE4 Zen Garden build on production quality and post the results here.

Or anyone with any comments about these CPUs (especially the 2990wx), feel free to share!

Get 1950x best performance and value.

When it comes to rendering, the 2990wx has between 50% to 75% better performance compared to the 1950x:

According to those charts i’d say a performance increase of around max 40 - 45% probably i doubt anywhere close to 75%. But its also around three to four times the price tag But if price is not the issue here then you haven’t much to worry about just buy the best out there : ).

Edit: regarding UE4 single threaded performance, I don’t think you have much to worry about, if it runs well on an I7 or even an I5 in some cases (which is the case for most consoles these days and even PC builds) then it will be more than fine on any of these new gen CPU’s for a decade to come, we still run all our projects on 4 year old I7’s and sometimes even those CPU’s are too fast for benchmarking some of our games/projects.

Thanks for the tip appreciated.

Still if anyone does have any of these CPUs, it would be nice to know what performance you’re getting…

Then what about a i9 9900K CPU will that work wonders as it runs really hot, with the 1151 CPU chip set the motherboards only uses 64GB (4X16) GB DDR4 2666, as for the 1950x for AMDs DDR4 supported Ram memory 2933
