Anybody know when the 4.20 hotfix is coming?

I just started a new project using 4.20 and it just crashes left and right. I’m not very internet savvy so I thought I’d come here and ask if anybody knew when it was coming out.

I’d recommend sticking to 4.19.2 for now. There’s nothing that important in 4.20 anyways (in terms of new features), and you can always upgrade your project later.

Not sure I’d agree that 4.20 doesn’t contain anything important. Guess it depends on your POV, but I’m looking forward to using Rectangular Area Lights and checking out the Niagara preview…

The Replication graph and Replication Driver is pretty huge news for people making games with high player counts such as MMOs or Battle Royale-type games.

I haven’t used it long enough for it to crash, but it was the first engine I installed where upon launch it restarted my computer. As Robert mentioned, rectangular area lights are definitely something I’d like to check out so hopefully they work out the issues soon.

Read the “4.20 Released” thread in the “Announcement” forum and you will immediately understand why somebody above recommended to not use 4.20 at this time. Several versions ago I made it my policy never to update until the last hotfix is out and Epic announced that they are working on the next version. I also read here and there that 4.19 is still buggy, that is why I am still using 4.18 and I will continue to do so until Epic fixes the catastrophe that 4.20 obviously is. I won’t repeat the complaints from that thread here, just go and read it.

It is VERY frustrating to see Epic focus only on features that they themselves need for their own games and seemingly not caring about stability anymore.

I stopped updating to the latest engine 3 years ago. until there is a .2 or .3 behind the engine version don’t bother updating!
