I want to use different times of day (light and fog mainly) and am trying to fade slowly, but this function does not seem to work. It seems all I read is that it does not work, but haven’t found recent info, so… trying here. Thanks !
I believe I read somewhere on discord some days ago about how you should have a Base Day sequence with low priority always enabled and then have different day sequences with higher priority to switch between.
Again I haven’t personally used this so I can’t be 100% sure it works but I remember reading something along those lines somewhere recently, maybe it works maybe not. Good Luck
Check out @swaggod 's post
Thanks. Yes I did read it before, but in my case I also wanted to change the amount of fog. But that’s a start.
I wonder how many Day Sequence Devices you can use at the same time and how much it would impact performance ???
I wonder if 32 of them would be too many, something like 8 different times for the gradiated light levels x 4 different fog settings each, then cascade different sets with runs of timers between.
Hi Chaoticlock,
I was experimenting with the Day Sequence Device and Fog Recently. First with the goal of being able to manually switch from ‘light/regular fog to heavy fog’ and then with the goal of changing fog values when inside of a DSD volume (‘Trigger Volume’ enabled)
I couldn’t figure out the manual switching. I tried many permutations of Enabling/Disabling/Fading in and out/‘Enabled During Phase’ (I had some luck with just Enabling/Disabling, but with a nasty pop where neither fog volumes showed for a moment)
Also, something with the Trigger Volume approach - It did not respect my fog color choice when playing in Game Mode (But it worked in-editor and edit mode)
So maybe the path forward is to ‘compare notes’ on the setup, and work towards entering a bug report.
Hmm I think using a day sequence with trigger volume might be the way to go as you can set blend distance on those and it does transition smoothly. Haven’t tried yet but I imagine you could start with your foggier day sequence set to trigger volume below the map and animate it with sequencer to move up when you want more fog.
Yes, I did place volumes and triggers and tried all sorts of combinations with no luck and it seems like the fades and fades timing does not do anything. Will try to put down what I experimented. Thanks for the message.
It’s kind of a solution and I tried it, but if my player walks back on his tracks then the timing of the day is wrong…
If you make sure the time of day settings are the same on the two day sequences (start at specified time or default work well) they should stay the same between transitions
