i see some people use modular modeling.
but, what i talk now, its is small than modular.
for example, when i modeling a stair.
i can only model 2 or 3 step, then unwrap these UV, then use these to build stair, when i finish the stair, these material will so small.
and when i build a wood house, i also can use these 2-3 wood plane and build house, these method can save texture disck size and modeling time.
yes, that’s pretty much what I like to do. Try to break down the object I’m creating into as many repeating parts as possible. For me the best thing is texturing - you save space, and also if you have each part set up so that it’s texture can be panned or flipped in one direction, you can create a lot of variation in the whole object by panning different texture parts around, even though its the same geometry just repeated.
