Any news about Unreal Engine 5.2?

Does anyone reading this know any news about unreal engine 5.2?

News such as new cool features, release date and etc.

I’m quite curious and I can’t find it with a simple search so I thought I ask it here in Unreal Forum.

If you want to know about the latest changes coming to Unreal Engine, the best solution is to look for information on this forum, Discord and the official Unreal Engine page. To sneak-peek at resolved issues I suggest the Unreal Engine Issues page. If you know C++, you can have a look at the GitHub page for information about the new features implemented.

Before they had a roadmap you could follow to have a look at new features. I think it has been discontinued, so you can only view the latest changes done to a released engine. Here is the page for the roadmap: https://portal.productboard.com/epicgames/1-unreal-engine-public-roadmap/tabs/80-unreal-engine-5-1

I hope this was helpful!

Thanks a lot!

I just can’t find any information on this website about UE 5.2 https://portal.productboard.com/epicgames/1-unreal-engine-public-roadmap/tabs/80-unreal-engine-5-1

Is there any chance you can also give me some discord channels about the unreal engine?

This should be the Discord Channel: Unreal Engine

They seem to have not updated the Roadmap this cycle. Maybe it will come eventually but kinda weird that they did it for 5.1 and then just…forgot it existed.

5.2 is on the GitHub page so the progress is there, they just aren’t using the roadmap.

Elias, my friend!

I’m about to start development on my commercial release.
Should I wait for 5.2 (as in, do you suspect it will come out by the summer?) or stay on 5.1?

Right now I writing the script, compiling assets, testing concepts (combat scenarios, AI, VFX), etc., pre-dev stuff, which will take a good 4-6 months.

Seeing as you are more experienced, what say you? Commit to 5.1 or wait for 5.2?

I ask because Lumen still needs tweaking. I think Nanite is exceptional, and I barely need to use it because I already optimize (thanks to your suggestions!!!).

Good question! I checked 5.2 from the source that Tuesday and looks like the Engine was broken. I don’t know why. 5.1.1 worked well.

I personally wait for 5.2 because I hope they will fix Landscape tools for macOS, add Mesh Shaders and native M1/M2 CPU support.

For Windows should be fixed as well

Greetings!

You just scared the crap out of me, and now I may stick with 5.1.

The other reason is because there’d be an inevitable delay for assets to be updated and/or tested for 5.2.
