Any industry standard for source control raw asset management?

I’ve been using Perforce as a source control tool for UE4 projects but I’m wondering if there’s an industry standard for source control the raw assets? Such as photoshop files, 3ds max files, etc. How’s the folder structure? Should all go inside the Unreal project folder and submitted to the same workspace in Perforce (or tool of choice)? I’m a bit confused about the workflow, and end up getting pretty messy as the projects grow in size.

I tried looking around but there’s really little info about this process.
