Animations out of sync when using IK Hand Gun socket on default epic skeleton

When I attach items to my skeletal mesh normally using any other socket (for example, the right hand bone), they work find and sync correctly. When I attach them to the IK hand gun bone, however, the animation lag far behind are generally out of alignment. I have read several posts on this subject, some of which suggest things like tick groups being the problem but I have not seen any changes from messing around with these. To do the actual attachment I am just using the attach component to component node as I have done in the past to attach any mesh to my character. Does anyone have suggestions as to what this could be?

How are you driving IK hand bones?Could be the IK solver is aiming at a point in front of gun. Should probably attach to a socket on right hand bone anyway. Unless your gun anims are left handed.

You need to attach the gun to a skeletal bone or custom socket.

I have tried attaching to an added socket but was getting the same issue unfortunately. In the tutorial I referenced for making the animations they were able to just directly attach the item to the Ik Gun socket without the need to add another custom one though. My goal was to use the FABRIK node to make some procedural animations for stance changes, but I may need to do some more research on the subject.
