Animation on Destructible Mesh

Ive been working for a couple days to find a way to animate a destructible mesh. I haven’t made any significant progress so far and I am unsure if such a thing can even be done so any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

So far my best attempt is setting up a custom blueprint/class combo that takes the skeletal mesh from a destructable mesh component and assigns a skeleton to it then displays it via a skeletalmeshactor but animations were not able to play and I dont think destruction was working
