So in UE we’ve got animation montages which make it easy to attach sound effects and niagara systems to our NPC’s
however in UEFN this is missing, and it is quite frustrating trying to work around this as there really isnt a way to attach niagara particles to a NPC at all
i’ve been helping some friends on their maps which have bossfights. Now originaly they were just static bossfights at specific locations using cinematics for attacks, however we are expanding it into full on custom NPC’s to have more variety and for it to be more proffessional in the first place.
The issue i am currently facing however is that there is no way to have animations that work properly with niagara particles. A jump that leaves behind a smoke trail? not properly possible.
A missile attack that comes from a specific part of the NPC’s body? not possible.
i can continue with this for a while but there really isnt a point as i’ve already made my point.
I would greatly appreciate it if epic would consider adding animation montage’s or something similar where we can attach particles and sounds to a animation and either to specific bones or have it simply have a offset to then play the animation.
it is currently to my knowledge not on the roadmap at all and i feel like this is a pretty key feature when it comes to having custom NPC’s.
