Animation import problem

I tried importing some animations onto my mesh but every time I try it just says failed to import (the directory of the file) and in the message log it says: “mesh contains root bone as root but the animation doesn’t contain the root track”. Matter of fact it says the same thing on every skeleton I try to add the animations. Have to say that earlier when I tried to add some other animations and it said something about the skeleton, but… I didn’t really read it. If you need any further info just ask me.
Thanks in advance.

Hey @DeiankataTV,
Are you importing your animations from Blender or Maya? Or possibly another animation/modeling software?

I’m not sure if that’s what you ask but I imported the animations from maximo.

Update. I tried putting animations from mixamo to brand new projects… the same thing. Maybe I changed something in the engine settings which I don’t know how to do so I’m assuming it’s not this.

@DeiankataTV
When you imported your .fbx, did you also select import animations? Upon importing to Unreal you need to check this option to keep the information. Here’s a video that goes through all the steps:

Otherwise, you may need to re-download the .fbx from Mixamo.
I hope this can help!

well, I’m not using a mixamo character just animations from there. I tried putting them in a new project on the default skeleton but it said the same thing. This had never happened before and it’s happening everywhere.

@DeiankataTV
I may have found a fix elsewhere:

It seems like it gives it a fix, but I haven’t tested it to be sure.
Based on other comments, it seems that Mixamo animations are a bit buggy in Unreal without the Mixamo characters.
Here’s a video that can help walk you through it if you need it though:

Let me know f you have more questions!
