Animation continues playing when possessing another pawn

Hey, I’ve attached a video of my issue. Whenever I possess the car pawn in the level, the animation keeps playing on the character. Is there a way to stop this? I tried making a boolean that sets the character to a driving state which gets read by the character animBP, but it refuses to change the character animation. I saw a fix saying to check “Run physics with No controller”, but it doesn’t seem to have any affect on it.
