Animation Blending Issue

So I have my character play a talking animation when I press the “H” key. It’s layered properly, so when it plays, it only effects the top-half of the mannequin and I can run around and the running animation will play on the legs while the talking animation plays.

My NPC is idle with an idle animation playing, and when I go talk to him, he plays the exact same talking animation montage, but his legs get effected, and I don’t want that. I want the idle animation to keep playing on the legs while the talking animation plays on the top half. I’m pretty stumped on what to do. The animation montage is set to an upper body slot and again, it works for my player character fine but not my NPC.
