So i’ve created a FPS character, and now i want my weapon to move when i am walking/running. But i don’t know how to do that, i’ve looked on google and youtube but its never what i want. i want to look like this: for example. This is my character:
You can rig things in UE, but then it needs to be a skeletal mesh of course. I think things are most easily animated in an external tool like Maya or Blender.
Or, you could just cut that process right out and get a whole load of weapons and animations for like 5 bucks:
EDIT: Whoops, not sure if anims are included there.
Yes, couple it with:
EDIT2; Or just get the whole caboodle with:
Seems very popular. It really depends what your priorities are. You can have all that for 20 buck, or spend 6 weeks trying to make a decent single weapon animation.
LAST EDIT: Apparently this is stuff in engine now for making animations:
I can’t really say much about how easy to use it is…
I think you asked this before, right?
Trouble is, there is no fixed answer. Frankly, the weapon movement in most FPS is totally unrealistic. Would you really hold the gun directly in front while running?
In any event, this looks like it’s in the right ballpark, if you slow it down a lot…:
Also, but in Blender:Okey does this mean that if i want to animate lets say, a reload animation, that i need to do the animation on Blender and then import it into UE4? Or can i do it in UE4 directly?
No worries. Was just looking a bit further. It seems that animations are mostly still made externally, but can much more easily be edited now. However, there is now the experimental:
which allows you to animate skeletal meshes from scratch. But I’d choose sanity, and get a pack
Just to be clear: Something like weapon bob, you can do with blueprint. But stuff like reloads and weapon switches etc, need animation.
okey thanks
