Android Play Billing version issue

Howdy Folks,

I have a question regarding the android play billing version. I'm currently using Unreal Engine 5.2 and the default play billing version is 5, but now playstore requires version 6. I have no idea how I can upgrade the play billing version. Secondly, I would say I am new to this android stuff. One of the fixes I could think of was to just upgrade the project into Unreal Engine 5.4, which has play billing version 6 but for some reason, I keep getting an "UNKNOWN ERROR" when making the build. This error is exactly before the gradle thingy runs. And I know i can somehow fix it but it'll take me time. 

Secondly, I wanna run ads on my app. Now, I read on reddit somewhere that Play billing is required to run ads. And some other forums including a post here said it isnt. So if it isnt actually required to run the ads, can I just disable play billing altogether? I dont have any in app purchases in my game whatsoever. If disabling it works, then how can I do it?
