Android device doesn't show under launch devices

Hi

I am trying to create a game for my HTC One but UE4.13.0 doesn’t show my phone on the list of launchable devices and therefore packaging doesn’t work.

In the Device Manager it shows the phone and that it’s connected. I have gone through the help files and have installed the CodeWorks for Android 1R4 and have Visual studio 2015 installed and have set all the settings in the Project Settings for Android deployment. The phone has the developer settings setup and has USB debugging setup - I also have PTP set as opposed to MTP.

In short, I think I have done everything so that it should work but it doesn’t so if anyone has any suggestions to get it working, I would be most appreciative.

When you plug your phone in by USB, does it show up in my computer?

It comes up as a drive under Computer.

Try to reinstall your relevant USBs and make sure that developer mode - usb debugging is 100% on and MTP is set.

I reinstalled the drivers for the phone, developer mode is setup with usb debugging on and MTP is set. In unreals Device Manager, the phone is on the list and it says that it is Connected.

I’m completely baffled.

when you build the APK, just run the .bat file and it should install fine.

Another option is to open visual studios, tools → Android → Android ADB console prompt…
type adb logcat and see if it connects to your phone

When you say build the APK, what do you mean ?

If I download and install the Android SDK will that conflict with CodeWorks for Android 1R4 ?

File -> Package Project -> Android -> Android (ALL)

It doesn’t get that far, I get a popup that says that I am missing some required components for android game creation and refers me to the ue4 help - which I followed.

NDKROOT environment variable needs to be set. The Codeworks for Android installer in Engine/Extras/AndroidWorks should set everything up for you.

Amazing, it finally recognises my phone ! The downside is that when packaging, it fails - good grief.

They both define GetHMD(). This is fixed in 4.14, but for now turn one of them off.
