In this virtual production project, my goal was to create an environment set suitable for real-time rendering and In-Camera VFX. To achieve this, I utilized various tools and techniques.
I designed modular pieces in ZBrush to represent ancient ruins and then textured them in 3D Painter. These elements were seamlessly integrated into Unreal Engine, employing Nanite and Lumen technologies.
For the Buddha figure, I utilized Epic Games Reality Capture to scan and incorporate it into the virtual environment.
The lighting setup consisted of a directional light and two spotlights to illuminate the entire scene effectively.
To construct the wooden bridge, I utilized the new PCG system, which reads the spline’s path and instantiates various wooden meshes from the Quixel Megascans library.
As for the sky, I used the ColorCorrectionWindow blueprint to apply a slight tint to achieve the desired camera angle effect.
The water was created using several particle systems in Niagara, incorporating flipbooks and simple sprites to achieve the desired water effect.
I looked at your screenshots on ArtStation and I want to say that you made a lot of details on the assets, especially on the Modular Ancient Ruin Asset 01 and 02. This is not visible in the video due to the distance of the objects, but it is noticeable in the screenshots.
Hope you’re well and having a great week so far!
What a truly beautiful location. Ancient ruins aren’t typically something I’d call “beautiful” but the way the wildlife has taken over is quite stunningly dreamy. Especially with that emerald water covering the scene. Wonderfully done!
Do you happen to have an ArtStation with your other art for us to look at?
Thanks so much for sharing
Wow! Love the lighting in every single one of those projects. The subtleties given with the lighting makes the ambiance and feeling of each project so much more noticable. Wonderfully done
