Anchorpoint is a Git-based version control solution for artists that comes with an Unreal Engine plugin. It is fully compatible with Git, including GitHub, Azure DevOps etc. It adds file locking and allows artists to use Git with just two buttons. Take a look at our Getting Started guide.
For bugs and feature requests, feel free to talk to our developers on our Discord server.
Requirements
To use this plugin you will need the Anchorpoint desktop application and an Anchorpoint account.
The free version of Anchorpoint allows you to push and pull files to and from GitHub and use local version control, other features require a subscription.
Pricing: €20 per user per month. Indie developers get a 50% discount.
Version control without lock-in effects
Anchorpoint enables team collaboration using Git and extends it with dedicated tools for your Unreal Engine project, including
Check-in workflows and file locking
Avoid merge conflicts and maintain exclusive and immediate locks on assets and actor files.
A UI designed for artists
No need to learn Git concepts. No need to troubleshoot. Artists only have to press 2 buttons.
Art asset management
Work on terabyte-sized repositories without slowing down, tag and annotate assets with AI to find them faster.
How it works
Anchorpoint is like a Git client with an additional metadata system attached. This metadata system allows instant file locking (without the limitations of Git LFS locking), tagging and centralized Git configurations. The metadata is managed in our cloud, which never touches your production data.
The Unreal Engine plugin takes full advantage of the revision control workflow used by other revision control vendors such as Perforce. The plugin connects to the Anchorpoint desktop application that handles Git and metadata. Unlike the built-in Git plugin in Unreal Engine, the Anchorpoint plugin takes full advantage of the Git LFS and other features that allow it to scale to TB-sized projects. It allows you to blueprint diff, check out files, view a single file history and commit changes from within the Unreal editor.
