An Error when installing Epic Games Launcher

Iv’e looked through every forum out there but I didn’t find an issue like mine. when I go to install everything is fine until
“Status: Creating Shortcuts” gets stuck and an error message pops up saying “An error occurred while attempting to create the directory: C:\WINDOWS\Installer{C8E7C575-FCFA-46B2-8FC0-E8AC65501350}”

Here’s what iv’e tried:

  • Changing permissions to Full Control
  • Checking for missing windows files with sfc scannow command
  • Re downloading the install
  • Turing off Windows Defender

Why is it trying to create a directory in your windows folder? Try picking another install directory
