I’ve done my research for a new computer build and the AMD 7800X3D is the clear winner when it comes to gaming for me. My question is does this processor also work better in UE5 building? Or is it better to get the 7950X with the double cores and speed?
I know this sounds obvious but everything I’ve read, the 7800X3D is slightly better than it’s big brother when it comes to gaming for $200 less. This will be run with a 4090 video card and UE5 is my priority over games.
Nothing to write home about unless you’re gaming hard!
Have you considered Ryzen 7900 - the non X version where you can switch to PBO in the BIOS. It’s such an efficient little thing that makes one ponder why 7900x exists in the first place.
Typically for game dev, you want as much cores as you can get without sacrificing much speed.
Kind of true but bit of an overgeneralisation, not all cores are created equally - looking at your E cores, Intel. And generational improvements are meaningful as well. So are the clocks, ofc.
After doing research in other places, this is the video that sold me on the 7800X3D. But again I’m wanting the most performance for UE5 since that is my livelihood. Guess I’ll have to keep researching! Lol
If you were to buy a new CPU for under $800, what would it be?
7950x and spend the leftover $100 on RAM, better screen, video card or fancy takeaway + beer and find out why the heck U.2 drives are not more mainstream.
