The AMD Radeon R9 390X has good price value when compared to the GTX 980 Radeon R9 390X vs GeForce GTX 980
Anyone here using the 390X, and anybody aware if the 8 GB make a huge difference? The price is also nice, but the increased power consumption (+40% vs NVIDIA) will increase electricity bill slightly.
The GTX 980 gets better performance than the 390x, that’s why the price difference. The memory consumption might matter in certain cases, like for 4K gaming or for GPU rendering.
The 390X snacks the 980 in almost every scenario, also its like 90$ or so cheaper (not to mention twice the VRAM and about extreme computing capabilities/async computing).
Then also it’s CGN, means it **will **perform even better within the near-future low level APIs like DX12 or Vulcan.
Nvidia cards are good for DX11 titles, but even so the 390X is still faster and cheaper then the 980.
