Hello. I’ve been using the unreal engine for a while now, just hobbyist type projects, but I’ve been curious about something… In the essence of honesty, I’ll share that I used to be a drug addict… I got clean by locking myself in the house and binge watching youtube videos (markiplier playthroughs, specifically…) and found out about the unreal engine through him. it helped me to get clean. my question is, I’ve been trying to figure out a way to give back to the community and help other addicts get clean, so I thought I’d go to NA meetings and find people interested in learning, (it’s much easier to get clean when you have something to focus on) and teaching anyone who wanted to learn. I’m not a licensed instructor (if such a thing exists) so I’m curious… would I get in trouble for this? I dont plan on charging, I just want to try to help other addicts into their recovery. Does anyone know if Epic games would have issues with this? I don’t want any endorsements from the company, just basically a “go ahead” would suffice. Any help is appreciated, and Thank you for your time :).
Hello!
Congrats for your recovery first!
Rocky: “Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!”
Unreal is free and I think you are free to teach/help/develop/entertain as you want, the only things to keep in mind is pay tax and fee to epic if you earn money.
Help yourself and people is the best thing you can do!
I agree, congratulations on recovery. The short answer is yes. There is a large swath of people on YouTube doing unreal tutorials and a lot of them are ad-supported and if epic games had any issue with it I don’t think many of those would exist because they’ve been around for a while so you shouldn’t have any problem teaching people unreal.
Ah, thank you for the answers :D. I figured there wouldn’t be an issue, I just always like to make sure before I do anything lol. I don’t plan on charging, but if I do make any money I definitely will make a contribution to Epic games. Thank you for your time in answering my question :D, I’m super excited to get started trying to help people. It’s changed my life, and I can’t wait to share what I know! Thanks again.
