So i have a youtube tutorial channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYTF9nk0DbT7PpDhQ1E-1AQ/videos and ive been making videos for about a year. Whatever software i make the videos in i like to make the logo green, simply because it looks cool. Somebody recently commented on one of my videos and said that im not allowed to do that with the logo for legal reasons. As of right now, i havent monetized my channel yet, but i would like to as soon as youtube lets me. Id obviusly not like to be sued by the nice people at epic games over something this stupid, but id also like to not have to illegally download all of my videos, remove the logo, re add the logo, and re upload every single one of them. So does anybody know am i allowed to do this? Since i do this with every logo i use wouldnt this technically fall into “parody law” like dumb starbucks? and if not what would be the best route to fix it?
Most likely you’re fine, they have a branding info page here: Unreal Engine Branding Guidelines and Trademark Usage - Unreal Engine
If it’s not covered on that page then you can email them and tell them how you want to use it for approval.
You need an approval to use a modified version of the logo. Since you only changed the color they probably will allow it especially since your content is tutorials and nothing offensive but you never know. It is their brand so they get to decide.
