Alternative way to use various ammo?

So, for those who don’t know, the game implements different types of ammo by literally replacing the weapon you are using with a very similar but different one that uses a different type of ammo and shoots a different type of projectiles. There are literally two bows, crossbows and three compound bows in the game files because of this.

I want to add a significant amount of different ammunition types, so I was wondering if anybody knew a better way to implement this with the tools provided in the devkit.
