All UE5.2 projects gone from epic games launcher & UE main menu

Hi There,

for some reason, all of my unreal engine 5.2 projects are gone from the epic games launcher and the ue main menu (picture below).

I made about 10 projects in 5.2, and they normally showed up as they should in the epic games launcher library and ue5 main menu (picture below).

What could this problem be?

A workaround could be to just open the ue file from the file explorer, but this also doesn’t work because of another issue. The problem i’m facing this way is that the link between the files in the file explorer and the ue5 file are gone… In this image below you can see that when i open the folder in file explorer, the assets are there, but the same folder in ue5 doesn’t contain any assets…

This problem only occurs when unreal engine crashes and i choose to skip the restore. for some reason when i open that particular ue project from the file explorer, then the link between asset in ue and file explorer is gone.

So the projects that can’t properly be opened by file explorer, can actually be opened when i clicked the project in the epic games launcher library or ue5 main menu. when open them that way, everything works fine. But now that my projects aren’t in the launcher or in the main menu anymore, i cant open them at all…

so i’m facing two big problems.

Please let me know if you have any idea what could be the problem for 1 (or for both ofcourse).

Kind regards,

Philip

I see .uasset files in your explorer there. Where are the .uproject files? That’s the thing to try and open.

hey @ClockworkOcean,

The .uproject file does exist, and all the folders in the file explorer are filled with uasset files, but when i open the .uproject file, the project opens without all uasset files in it.

Thanks

It sounds like broken references. You only open this project in one version of the engine?
