All my unreal engine projects are crashing. Why?

Is there anything that can be done to reduce the frequency of crashes? I just can not open any of my projects, even the default projects,
I tried

to unistall unreal, but it doesnt work at all.
and i restart my computer.
i dont know what to do…

  • First, go into your Epic Games Launcher, go to Library, and then click the arrow next to your engine version (assuming you are using 4.10 or later. Then click options and ensure that Editor Symbols for Debugging is checked, so that way you can get a callstack for your crash.
  • What version of the editor are you using?
  • Do you have any plugins installed?
  • Could you please provide your dxdiag?
  • I am using the v4.10.4.

  • I have no plugin installed.

Try downloading 4.11 and seeing if you can open a project in that engine version. Also, ensure that your graphics card drivers are fully up-to-date.

Drivers are up-to-date and i just tried v4.11. Still doesn’t work.

Could you please cause the crash again and then provide the logs from your project’s Saved->Logs folder?

To be clear, when exactly is it crashing? Does it crash upon attempting to open the project before it opens, or does the project open and then it crashes?

Also, try reinstalling your engine again, but do this first:

Open up the windows menu and type %appdata%. Then, navigate to the Local->Unreal Engine->4.10 folder and deleted all of the folders contained within. These are extra settings that need to be deleted to completely reinstall the editor from scratch. Let me know if that helps.

Projects stop loading at 95% and the editor just never open. I couldn’t open it since 2 days now. Plus, this occurs on every projects, old or new. But the launcher works fine. I can naviguate fine in the market or the library, etc.

I had the same trouble, a blueprint was corrupted, I just deleted it and the project started again …

Files deleted and engine reinstalled. It keeps crashing at the same moment. Same crash report.

I first tought it was a blueprint issue too, but I transfered the project to another computer and it’s working fine. On the first computer it crashes on any project i try to load.

Earlier, you provided some details from your dxdiag. Could you please provide the entire dxdiag? If it is only occurring on one PC, it’s most likely related to something in the hardware, so I’ll need to look into the specs in more detail. Thank you

Try reverting back to an older graphics card driver. Did you notice this starting to occur after an update to your drivers?

Also, launch the editor with the -log command to see what exactly is happening when it reaches 95%.

To do this, go to where you have your editor installed. Program Files->Epic Games->4.10->Engine->Binaries and then Shift->Right Click on the Win64 folder and select Open Command Window Here

Then in the command window type in UE4Editor.exe -log -opengl and press Enter.
