All my projects that have plugins and even some that dont have plugins wont build anymore, even older ones that would build before i didnt change a thing and it still wont build now, even when searching up the error through github and other forums and moving the plugins directly in the project folder or reinstalling unreal engine 5.3.2 or changing the directory of the project or just building a blank project or reinstalling vs 2022 properly with the right settings i get this error i even went into build tools to give all users privelages to the build folder nothing works and i always get this. the game plays and functions 100% correctly in the project though. if anyone knows please help…ive been stuck for 2 weeks. i cant upload any of the logs yet but i hope someone can help-

In the meantime, you already did try a number of things I usually recommend in case of builds failing due to plugins, so it might come down to seeing the error.

This is definitely interesting! It seems that the engine can’t access many plugin resources whatsoever when trying to build. To add it’s also acting as though it’s having namespace issues as though there’s duplicated plugins. It’s possible it could be an issue with the VS solution itself, but I’ll have to do a bit more research there.
Are you running the engine and project files from the same Drive?
Let’s try a couple things. To prepare for this, please back your project up somewhere safe.
Delete the Intermediate
, Saved
, and DerivedDataCache
folders from your project folder, then launch your project to regenerate them.
Then try and build to a fresh directory. Do you still receive the same plugin errors?
It seems a fresh project or a project without any changes to any marketplace plugin works. but the instant i add something like for example a well known plugin that works like smoothsync it throws back the same issue the issue appears to be marketplace plugins and a will need those plugins…i feel like it may be my VS bc ive had many VS warnings in other programs like unity and other systems that rely on it. it appears that my VS 2022 is messed up in some way heres the ending of the error log if it helps

after reinstalling vs 2022 and testing ue5 ive found out it will build without plugin or with a bulit-in plugin but if i build with a plugin installed from the marketplace it breaks. the only thing i havent tried is running it in a virtual machine to see if my windows 10 is the issue.
It’s interesting that all built in plugins are recognized but those added are failing. Is it every single marketplace plugin? The only main distinction to how they are processed is location. Let me know how your other tests go!

it works in the virtual machine, so…to recap on the main computer, using the default fps template works with the normal plugins works with playing in the editor and packaging, using the default fps template works with the built-in plugins works with playing in the editor and packaging, using the default fps template works with the marketplace plugins works only playing in the editor and not packaging, but everything works fine on another virtual computer…im guessing i would need to reinstall windows 10 to get it working on my main computer? and that my windows 10 is partially corrupted aka a dll is messed up or something similar?
It’s possible there’s something wrong with the windows installation, but if it were a missing or corrupt library we would get an error on it most likely. It’s hard to pin down why it believes there’s multiple installs of the plugins while simultaneously being unable to access the files at build time.
Before getting too drastic, I’d see if maybe moving the project to another drive, double checking the plugins installed (and maybe moving them to the project folder again on the new drive and selecting them in engine) to test a couple things out. Are we certain no form of file protection/antivirus could be blocking access to the files? You had mentioned reinstalling VS and it’s components, did the errors change after doing so?
ive tried moving to different drives and when using things like python scripts, unity or unreal ive always disabled windows defender and firewall then reenabled it, and once a month i install antivirus then uninstall to keep performance. i have had this windows 10 for over 2 years and have installed many things on it that go deep into the system and have even tried out the ai stuff before finding out i shouldnt have done my researched ive installed many windows 10’s after breaking registry’s and in the past needed to backup everything so honestly it will be easier for me to eventually backup and reinstall but for now ill use the virtual machine temporaily. but thank you for your help though! <3 ^w^
