All installed engines no longer appear in Launcher. All Projects not found

Hi,

I’ve recently hit an issue where all the installed Engines and all my projects fail to appear in the epic Launcher.

Yesterday the Epic Launcher was signed out, but after signing in, Everything is now gone.
I’ve signed out/ signed in, restarted launcher, restarted desktop.

I can still see the Engines still installed in Program Files and all my projects are still there.

I’ve tried opening a project but it errors with No installed engines found, do you want to find Manually? , Proceed but then nothing comes up.

I’ve redownloaded the latest engine version which works and then can see the projects but all my installed plugins would need reinstalling.
Ive tried renaming the folder of the installed to point to the old version but then it doesnt display any projects or installed versions again.

Anyone else recently had this? Is there a solution? Am I going to have to rebuild my projects and install engine/plugins all again?

Hello @NJDrew ,Welcome back to the forums!
Switching accounts shouldn’t cause this issue. I just tested logging out and into a different account, and all my engines and projects still showed up correctly.

In this post, a solution is mentioned for the error you’re experiencing—it might work for you and save you from having to set everything up manually. They may have a better solution for your specific case.

If that doesn’t help, I’d recommend contacting Epic support before going the manual route.

If not, then unfortunately you might need to reinstall everything and rebuild your projects, including reinstalling the engines and plugins.

Hope it helps

have you foun a solution to this because I’m losing my mind here. This just happened to me this morning, and I’m on a deadline and epic does this nonsense.

Sadly no.

I managed to get the engine running by opening the projects sln file in Rider which I use for coding and running the project from there which loads the engine So at least I can get to the list of plugins and settings I had.

But the launcher still has all the Engine slots and projects blank. Even thou I have 4 engines actually installed under Program Files.

Ive messed around in the GameSettings.ini file under the launcher folder and even recreated it from scratch but all engines and projects never seems to want to appear. It looked like that had been updated around the time it went wrong. But I think the UIDs its got arent correct to what gets picked up.

I’ve had to resort to pulling down the latest engine and carrying on from there.

this is crazy! and no help from epic either? I swear things like this is why people are switching to AI. For epic to update the launcher to just break everything Epic related on my computer is beyond ridiculous. The last thing I am going to try is just deleting everything except the actual project files and redownloading all of Epic and the engines again. Have you tried that?

No, Nothing seemed to work. Cleared cache and launcher.

The post above by adding CreatedProjectPaths only seems to be for missing projects. Ive tried that but it just gets ignored or refreshes that ini file so deletes those entries. Even with launcher not running it seems to refresh it back.

Ive renamed my current engine to 5.7-old and redownloaded the latest.
As soon as Ive downloaded and installed that engine from new , all my projects suddenly show up.

I rename the folders so 5.7 is back to point to my old one and the engine slot disappears again along with all the projects. I rename it back and they appear again.

The only thing I havent tried yet is completely uninstall and reinstalling the launcher. But dont want to try that in case it makes it worse.

This sucks lol I deleted everything epic off my computer, launcher and all, redownloaded everything again and I still have the issue!
