Hi!
Maybe I am not looking for it properly, but I cannot find anywhere a sort of user guide for Alignment settings. I mean, I see there are many parameters, and I don’t know what each of them does. The description doesn’t say much, and I change them like in a trial-and-error process, not knowing the way.
In fact, I am trying with a set of 2500 frames from a dron frame (GoPro camera), and I don’t know why I don’t get all of them aligned, resulting holes and errors on the model.
In general, I find myself a bit lost. Further than the video tutorials, I would like to have a complete user’s guide. I feel the pack works very well for easy scannings, but it is very hard to get advanced control. The “help” function is nearly empty (e.g., nothing about alignement settings).
I would apreciate some help. Please, please!

Hello Pablo,
the Help section is being extended. Some of it is ready to be released in the next update. However, most of the processes are intuitive and the rest can be covered either in this Forum, in our Facebook group or via contact form. So feel free to ask in the meantime.
What exactly do you need help with?
Thanks, Lucia, but I am afraid that “intuition” is not as universal as we sometimes suppose… At least, mine must be atrophied! To sum it up: I feel that the possibilities of the software are great, but controlling them is just a question of luck…
At this moment, I am trying to align those 2500 frames from GoPro dron flight. I cannot get a good result (less than 50% aligned, someimes end in errors,…), and I don’t know if changes I make on the parameters of alignment settings are improving or worsening it.
I mean: is there some kind of “optimal combination” for certain kinds of models? Or some kind of “rules” of this type: “if you have many frames, it’s beter to increase maximum no. of features per megapixel”, or something like that, for each parameter… I don’t know, I sometimes feel I make chages just to see that each result is worse than the former one… (By the way, is it possible to return to “factory settings” or something like that?)
Hi Pablo Serrano
set the alignment settings like in this screenshot. These are very universal settings for alignment, if it does not align everything and make components, then it is a sign of a wrong capture scenario. RC is a bit strictly set for properly captured data but the beauty is that you can learn from it. In most cases, better overlap helps.
Are you using GoPRo with default lens or do you have custom lens mounted?
Thanks! I will try these parameters. I think the GoPro lens was the standard default, thoug I am not sure. The problem is that I didn’t took the vedeo sequences myself, it was a friend who did and sent me the clips from which I extracted the frames.
Anyway, I think some kind of User’s Guide is very important, because I can try those parameters and they might work for this model, but I don’t know how to change each of them in case it doesn’t work. I mean: what happens if I increase “Image downscale factor” or decrease “Max feature reprojection error”? I feel it’s some kind of a “black box” with lots of tools in it that usually works, but we can’t fix if it fails… :?:
I will tell you how it goes!
Wow, 2457 photos out of 2500 aligned… I should have asked before!
This is the kind of “tricks” you should include in a User’s Manual
I will generate some models and share tham on Facebook CR Arena. Thanks!
Hi! Is this file still avaible somewhere?
Wich settings I must change?
Thanks
