Alignment of components

Hello.
I have a problem with the alignment of two components.
I took two series of pictures of the same subject, the second series rotating the object of 180°. I create separate projects for each series and I reached two components, one for each projects, that represent the front and back of my object (both models have lateral parts in common). Than, I set in each project 3 ground control points that the two parts have in common in order to orient in the same way both models. I exported both components in a new project and I checked that they were correctly oriented (even if I can’t see them at the same time), but when I calculate models these ones come back to the previous orientation. Where is the error? Which is the best way to build a model aligning two components that come from two series of pictures that represent the object in two different position and light condition? Thank you.

Do not touch the object. Take your pictures all around. This can help to put colored textured objects around the object on the ground (for example, pieces of newspaper or magazine).

Sometimes cases like this are unavoidable unfortunately . So I too am looking for a solution to combine the data of multiple scans taken of the same object under different conditions.

Hi Jessica
3 CP/GCPs is not enough to get it properly aligned, but it is not possible to say how many CPs you need as it can be pretty different from subject to subject. Try to use say 10-12 CPs and get more projections - CP is placed in more than 3 images, the more the better results, but it is better to have 10 CPs with say 6 projections than 15 with 3 projections…
