Align surface without UV's

I created simple model in 3dsMax and applied two material slots for two separate pieces of it. Then I created simple material with roughness map to add more realistic look. When I used it with my mesh, one of its surfaces works fine but the other one is kinda stretched. I’m just a beginner and not really 3d artist so I’m trying to keep everything simple. I know it has something to do with UV maps. In UE4, when you create a BSP you can align certain surface and it fixes the problem. Now the question is - can I do something simillarly simple in 3dsMax or does it require learing how to UV’s?

You need to UV the object in your external software and bring them in with the FBX ( or whatever ).
