align reconstruction coordinate system with world coordinats

While trying to reconstruct large meshes, I like to break up the reconstruction into smaller reconstruction regions, and move the box adjacent to a previously construction region by adding the appropriate size to the “center position”. However, after aligning the ground plane, I noticed the reconstruction box is on it’s own coordinate system and does not follow the world grid coordinates.

For example, I have the following point cloud aligned to the world grid’s Y-axis. The reconstruction box is at (0,0,0) and when I add 10 to the y component to make it (0,10,0). I would imagine the box would move upwards along the world Y axis, however the box moves off to an angle according to it’s own coordinate system defined by it’s rotation.

Can we have the option to move the reconstruction box in world space?

I totally think that the box should respond to the coordinates as actually displayed.
Never came across this issue before but if it’s really not, what’s the point of being able to adjust ground plane and being able to adjust the bounding box manually?

So I second this request!

Could anyone from RC please at least confirm this observation or explain how it works?

is your project properly geo-referenced after alignment?

I have an option to set reconstruction region to a co-ordinate system.

you can also export the region, and open it in a text editor to see whats going on.

I can’t really check things now as everything is busy, but i have had this working smoothly.

I think he knows whats going on from the Info Panel.
Or is there more details in the exported file?
So is there a difference between coordinate systems?
I did not have this issue myself, but I think it is worth clearing up…
