Alembic Groom uses a lot of resources

I created an alembic groom for my character using Maya Xgen. Everything looks great in Unreal however the groom is using a ton of resources. I’m only getting around 30fps when the groom is active in my scene. As soon as I hide the groom the fps jumps back up to around 65+. Is there ways to optimize the groom?

Even with nothing else in my scene besides lights and cameras it’s still the same. I spent a long time working on this hair in Xgen and it is crucial for this specific character. Hair cards just don’t look as good.

I’ve seen other people use much more complex hair and fur on youtube so I must be doing something wrong with optimization
