AI Generated Assets on the Marketplace?

Congrats!

I can say it was super hardcore

That shows that Tim Sweeney has no idea what’s going on “down there” on the user end of Unreal Engine and the Epic marketplace / artstation.

Which is exactly the reason why eventually real artists are going to leave Artstation for another site, and all that will be left on artstation is corporate advertisements and AI generated content.
So basically a wasteland that no one is ever going to look at to hire an artist or buy art from.

Finally a good meme, this is why I’m not afraid
And this is why Artists are going to be the masters using AI as a tool

Hi! I’m “Infinity PBR” on the marketplace.

Just found this thread. I’m sure in time there will be legal questions answered, and we’ll all adapt. I made the packs I made for people who want to just use them without doing it themselves.

There is time involved, and money – each system is different, but MidJourney is not insanely fast, even in “fast” mode, due to the queue, and the time it takes to find a repeatable prompt. So time is spent, and money is spent (I’ve spent nearly $2000 on MidJourney so far).

I also do post processing. Photoshopping – and in some cases, images don’t need it, so I don’t – and processing in Lightroom when it is warranted, as well as (AI based) image upscaling to increase the quality, then downscaling/sharpening, again to increase the quality. That all takes time, and these are paid applications as well.

Anyone can create similar content. That is 100% true.

Some people don’t care to take the time to do it, or spend the money to do it. Some people just want the content right now for what they’re working on right now. If that’s the case, great, here’s some packs for you :D.

If you prefer to make your own, go for it, it can be very fun.

One thing is for sure. AI is here to stay, and it’s only going to get bigger and better. I don’t think it will destroy jobs, I think it will make all of us more efficient, and allow more creators to do more, better, faster.

I have no idea, probably we destroy earth ecosystems…

Me too

When the time comes that 9/10 game devs, e.g., highly skilled workers struggle with finding a job - that means that whole economy already collapsed and we are past the phase of plundering supermarkets for food. That scenario assumes that nothing will change at large and that people being fired en mass will just lay down, accept their fate and starve to death. I.e., highly unlikely that’s going to happen.

Well Epic decided to don’t grant my project
Then I see no point to continue the Dream, is time to wake up

I know some of you are glad, but
while everyone is trying AI does the job, I’m the only one who made an AI to aid you

Edit: I’ll reapply properly, I’m thinking I can apply better with the new features

There is a class action lawsuit against Github Copilot (AI generated code) https://githubcopilotlitigation.com/

I’m pretty sure there will be a similar class action lawsuit against Midjournes&Co. soon, for using copyrighted pictures without permission of copyright owners. I just hope Epic bans the AI stuff from the marketplace before it happens, so Epic doesn’t get punished for selling stolen stuff.

And by the way, on the other hand in the battle against the machine,
people are getting angry and escalate…

I see stupid things like…

I think it will make all of us more efficient, and allow more creators to do more, better, faster.

Democratizing art is a noble goal. At the same time, anything that is accessible and easy to create becomes cheap.

This will likely strip away a lot of past career paths. For example, take the concept artist. Traditionally, a studio commissions an artist to create concept art for a movie or game. In a couple of weeks, the artist submits work, followed by days of revision. The contract concludes with a bill for hundreds or thousands of dollars.

There will always be financial and time pressures on studios. A.I. artwork is already good enough for concept work, so studios will adopt it. In the very near future, more companies will bypass traditional artists and opt instead to hire contractors with the skills to efficiently use A.I. generators.

Since this requires far less time and skill than traditional drawing, more people will be able to perform this function. Likewise, each individual will be far more productive at creating artwork. As supply goes up, the costs will tumble. Eventually, art commissions won’t be profitable for anyone except celebrity artists and a few consolidated operations. These businesses will operate out of a few countries where the cost of living is low.

@Uncle_Fred I can say I and I know a lot, and I don’t think it changes because reasons

I can say no one is thinking, not even per a second, to contract anyone who has not the proper skills to work as an artist.

In fact more job positions are coming

If it changes along time I don’t know, but now the idea is to make more content because the lack of episodic, movies, etc

Putting out the torches is just a new tool, it only knows how to make bland ■■■■ copied from something that already exists or modern art that is already ■■■■ in itself.
Let’s see if the boom passes soon and we can see how it can be applied for real.

Well from my side im done. 99% of the feedback is

I’m not interested in to buy it
:joy:

What? it does worlds with their own clothes, styles, buildings, creatures…

@DomusLudus who ara you? You are older than me

yes I am very old.

I only see very nice things but they smell like food from Lidl.
But I think that as a tool for an artist you could train it to do your own style and then touch up by painting over it and that way you save work.
I guess you could ask an artist to make training images for you and then at least it would be with a unique style.
As a indie developer I’m interested in this kind of tools right now I’m with a 2d card game, and we already know that artists are expensive.
