AI Car bounces/stuck on own collision on start

I set up an AI car that follows a spline path around my scene. With the vehicle template car it works fine, but when I try to switch out the skeletal mesh, the vehicle bounces and tips over and can’t move. It looks like it’s stuck on top of some sort of collision ball, bounces and tips around and can’t move forward. I see no significant difference between the physics asset for the template car and the one for the skeletal mesh I am trying to use. Does anyone know what the problem is here?
