Hey -
It sounds as though something within the engine may have become corrupted. You may want to try to uninstall and then reinstall the engine and then try opening your project again.
Hey -

I will try that when i get off work tonight. Would you recommend building it from source or use the download link? If I build from source how do I tell github that I no longer have a clone? Also when I reopen should I run source control or not? Your opinion what would be best to help keep this error from happening again?
Thank you
You may want to try with the download link on without source control (at least until you test the project the first time). If you’d like to use GitHub you should be able to get the source code zip file as well as the required files.
Cheers
I have great news I am fully back up and running with no loss.
Thank you very much you were a great help, and with out your help who knows how much time I would have loss rebuilding everything…
Thank you,
Murray
Thank’s to ,
The best way and fastest way to solve this problem is to go into your project folder where you have created the projects you would like to save. Create a copy onto you desk top or where every you may like to have a backup.
You can copy the hole Project file I found doing this helped keep the integrity of the file paths.
If you want you can create new folders to hold your files if you do go that direction you will have to reopen and recast any classes in your blueprints as well as re-import your work to recreate the assets
"Do this by right clicking on the object and just selecting the re-import on the asset you need’ the re-import file paths will stay intact.AS LONG AS YOU HAVEN"T CHANGED ANY OF THE LOCATIONS OF YOUR EXPORTED ASSETS
After you have uninstalled Unreal Engine 4 Go back through and delete the empty folders from your directories.
These will be located normally in C:ProgramFiles directory
Also you may want to look for where your projects are saved as well. I played it safe and deleted all of the projects as well. I recommend making a copy of the project you want and saving it in your back up location, and deleting all files just to start fresh.
Now your ready to download and install a fresh version of the engine. Go in and sing into your Unreal account and download the appropriate version of the engine.
Once you have downloaded the engine, go ahead and run and install the launcher.
When the Launcher opens install the version you need. I recommend you install the version your project was when you copied it. IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE A DIFFERENT VERSION YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO LAUNCH THEN CONVERT?COPY YOUR PROJECT/S Your almost done!!!
Alright so the engine is back up and running one more final step and you should be able to open your project and jump in right where you left off.
Close down the engine and the launch for this final step.
Now that everything is closed go to where you have your back ups select the ones you want and right click and copy them. Then go to your new project folder that the installer created, and paste your projects into that folder.
Now go ahead and open the Unreal Engine Launcher you should notice all your projects in your library.
*******If you have chosen to install a different version of the engine then the project I am not sure it will work **********
You should be able to launch your project and start right where you left off!!!
Congrats and good Luck.
Gotta give a shout out again to thanks to him this solution was possible!!!
Hope this helps
