AfroArt Studios - Igbo-Ukwu Crescentric Bronze Bowl

A ceremonial and decorative artifact from the ancient Igbo-Ukwu civilization, located in present-day southeastern Nigeria and dating back to the 9th century AD.

The bowl had a rounded body and a domed lid, featuring intricate decorative patterns in concentric bands. The surface is adorned with raised circular knobs and linear ridges, giving it a richly textured appearance. The lid has a distinctive crescent-shaped handle with circular indentations and is flanked by two conical projections. The craftsmanship displays a high level of detail and symmetry, characteristic of early West African metalwork.
