ADVICE: Building a workstation for Virtual Production on Unreal Engine

Hi everyone!
Quick Intro: I’m a graduate filmmaking student and I’m into VFX based projects. I do all my VFX, predominantly on After Effects, and since I have dived into Performance Capture Project I have been getting familliar with Maya, Motionbuilder etc. but I ended up loving what Unreal Engine has to offer in terms of Virtual Production and Cinematics. Thus, I have decided to create an ambitious fully performance captured short film that will be rendered and photographed (VCAM) inside Unreal Engine. This project is very close to my heart and I’m planning on building the best possible system to achieve this within the timeline and budget I have.

I need your advice on the most important hardware features required to get a high quality cinematic rendered out of the system. My budget for the system is around $2k and this is my current list:
Processor: Intel Core i9-9900K;
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming Motherboard;
RAM: G.SKILL 32GB (2 x 16GB) Ripjaws V Series DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz;
Internal SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus Series - 500GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD;
GPU: Geforce RTX 2080 Super;
PSU: EVGA 850 G1+ 850W;

Please share your thoughts on what I could alter in this. My priority is to be able to render the highest possible image out of Unreal, so as along as it doesn’t crash I don’t mind a very low frame-rate. I also want to make use of the Ray Tracing feature in Unreal.

Thanks a lot! :slight_smile:
