I was wondering how some of pro game developers create advanced combat systems like Dark Souls, God of War etc. I mean how they learn to develop these kind of amazing things? Is there any good books or courses to refer? Can someone explain me? Thank you!
Could you define what you mean with advanced combat systems?
I think they learn from previous games , like everybody , play with these games and came out with new ideas and fixes, and than probably will encounter some technical problem.
And again they will go back to search how other people solved the question or invented their own solution.
Online you can find a bunch of stuff on darksoul,
take a look at king’s field , hexen, shadowcaster, soul calibur , silver , arx fatalis , vagrant story… all interesting games with cool combat system.
