Add Timer Device, UEFN App Crashes - When: UEFN + Fortnite both running

Same issue here.

It only happens when I add a Timer Device in the UEFN editor. My paging file is already configured to 4,800MB initial and 6,400MB maximum, and I have 32GB of system RAM, so I don’t think this is simply a page file issue.

Sometimes UEFN causes my whole system to lock up the moment I drag the Timer Device from the Content Browser into the viewport. Other times, it places successfully, but performance gradually degrades afterwards. Sometimes refreshing the project files after recompiling Verse hangs and doesn’t refresh the game. Fortnite then starts glitching during the play session, memory usage appears to climb, and eventually my entire system locks up, forcing a hard restart.

For reference, my system specs are:

  • Windows 11 Pro
  • Intel Core i7-10700K
  • 32GB DDR4 RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (8GB VRAM)

To me, this looks more like a memory leak related to the Timer Device than a page file configuration issue.

Problem is I can’t send any crash logs, because it doesn’t actually get to ‘crash’. It just locks up the entire OS, meaning I have to force a restart of the PC.

If I open any other UEFN project that has no Timer Device, or, if I remove the Timer Device in the current project after a restart, the issue no longer continues. It seems directly related to the Timer Device.

Kind regards,
