I would like to suggest adding a “Tip”, “Donate”, or “Support the Creator” button on Fab.
The button could be available:
- On every product page.
- On every creator/publisher profile.
Unlike purchasing another product, this would allow users to voluntarily support creators whose work they appreciate.
Why this feature would be valuable
Many creators publish free assets, open-source plugins, or continuously improve existing products long after release. Users often want to say “thank you”, but currently there is no simple way to do so directly through Fab.
A donation/tip system would allow users to:
- Support creators who publish free assets.
- Thank a creator without having to purchase another product.
- Reward creators after they release important updates or improvements to a plugin or asset.
- Leave a voluntary tip in addition to a paid purchase when they feel the product exceeded their expectations.
- Encourage long-term maintenance and support of existing products.
Benefits for the Fab ecosystem
This feature could encourage creators to:
- Publish more high-quality free content.
- Continue maintaining and updating their existing assets.
- Invest more time into documentation, bug fixes, and customer support.
- Stay motivated even when an asset has already generated most of its sales.
For Epic, this would also strengthen Fab’s creator-first philosophy by giving the community another way to directly support the people building valuable content.
Tips could simply be processed through the existing Fab payment system, making the experience seamless for both buyers and creators.
I believe this would be a relatively small feature with a meaningful positive impact on both creators and the Fab community.
