Activation or Update first?

Hi there,

Do I need to uninstall my older version (20160111-667-AC9BBCA3-C755-4182-AACD-DE61DCF42757.msi) first before activating my new license or will it update automatically after activation?
If I have to update manually, does the previous version need to be uninstalled first?
The question has been asked before but not answered officially.
Since the smallest activation period is one week, I cannot risk experimenting at this point.
Time’s a factor…

Hi Gotz,
if you are buying a different type of RealityCapture license, you need to uninstall the other version first.

So, for example, when you have a Demo installed and want to use a Promo / CLI / perpetual license on the same computer, you need to uninstall the Demo first before you can start using the Promo / CLI / perpetual license.
If you have a Promo / CLI / perpetual license installed and bought another license of the same kind, you do not need to uninstall anything.

Hi lubenko,

wow, that was quick!
Thanks!

Sorry, I should have specified:
It was the second (I believe) Beta Version, January 2016.
I participated in the Beta-Testing.
And now I got a promo.

So it will do the update automatically or do I have to do it manually?
And before or after activation?

Yes, you should still uninstall the previous version first, install the new one and activate it on its first run. Just follow the instructions given…

Thanks.
In this context:
I find it a bit confusing, that it is still called 1.0 Beta.
What are the numbers for if not to inform users about the progress of the updates???

Hi Wishgranter,

I just now noticed that in windows programs and features it actially does give the important numbers all to the right.
That’s how one learns, right?
