Activating/Disabling Gameplay Abilities based on Hud-menu Selection

I’m trying to setup a (as simple as possible) Hotbar Menu that can contain pickups (or Spells) in 6 “Slots”. It starts off as empty, and then these spells can be found in the levels and put into these slots to give the player that specific Ability (A fireball GA in this case, but planning on adding many others).

I’ve managed to get the UI-part working and displaying properly the different Spells you can find in the level. I can also pick up the pickup actor and shoot that specific Spell. The only problem is that the granted ability can be shot regardless of what “Slot” is active.

I would like to only be able to shoot the current Spell if it’s currently in the Hotbar, and also currently selected with the mouse-scroll. I hope this makes sense, any ideas?
